Woman of Valor by Israel Bonds, died Feb. 19. She was 96. A Cincinnati resident, Mrs. Bonem was a native of Germany who immigrated in 1938.
Israel Bonds named her a Woman of Valor at a dinner in her honor on Nov. 17, 1968, for selling $110,000 worth of Bonds.
Mrs. Bonem and her husband, the late Albert Bonem, were founding members of New Hope Congregation, where she was active in the Sisterhood and the Chevra Kadisha (burial society) for more than 30 years.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Marion of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Eric and Frieda of Fountain Valley, Calif; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at Weil Funeral Home Interment was in New Hope Cemetery. Rabbi Moshe Berlove officiated.
