(W) BERLIN, JUNE 12 [1971]— Alfred Rudermann and Mrs. Amalie Strauss, childhood friends half a century ago, had an unex pected reunion in a Berlin sightseeing bus this week.
Both are Jews and natives of Berlin who emigrated to dif ferent parts of the world in the nineteen‐thirties after Hitler came to power in Germany. (...)
Mr. Rudermann, a dignified man in a dark suit, told a questioner that he fled Ger many to go to Switzerland in 1933. “I did not hesitate to get out one single moment,” he added. He said he lived in Geneva and intended to remain there but observed he thought “the Berlin invitation a very good idea.”
He was accompanied by his wife, a Swiss, of whom Mr. Rudermann remarked almost apologetically, “She is not an old Berliner, the way we are.”
