(obit) Arthur Fels
Arthur Fels, 97, of 221 W. 48th, long-time investment banker and realtor, died Sunday at Menorah Medical Center. He was born in Germany and had lived here more than 70 years.
Mr. Fels, an early pioneer in the mortgage banking field, was instrumental in the financing of many of the early highrise apartment buildings in the Kansas City and St. Louis area. He
was president of the Arthur Fels Company.
He was an active member of the real estate board more than 50 years and was one of the
members of the mort-gage division of the real estate board.
Mr. Fels served in the upper house of the city council in 1924 and 1925. He was on the selective service board here in World War II. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fels was a 50-year member of the Ararat Shrine.
He leaves a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Private services; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the Tommy Trenton Fund for needy children at Menorah Medical Center.
