(obit) IDA OPPENHEIMER, 74, EX‐SOCIAL WORKER
Ida Oppenheimer, a retired social worker who helped or ganize the Lower East Side Community Council in the 1920's and later headed the Jewish Vacation Association of the Federation of Jewish Philan thropies, died yesterday in her home at 235 West 22d Street. She was 74 years old.
Miss Orpenhelmer attended Hunter College and received a master's degree in economics from Columbia University in 1920.
She retired in 1960 from the vacation association, and be came involved in a “Project on Middle Age,” aimed at helping the woman whose children have grown up and left home.
During the Depression she headed efforts by the council to provide wood for fuel in the tenements, open play streets, inspect buildings for housing violations and create low‐cost public housing.
After her retirement the vacation association was absorbed by other departments of the Federation.
Miss Oppenheimer Is survived by a sister, Johanna.
