(ZB) The registration card mentions Jeanette as the daughter of Alfred and Sara. It doesn’t mention my grandfather, Karl Tiefenbrunner, who was born in 1895 and Erna/Ester Tiefenbrunner who was born in 1897. That’s curious.
It seems that the family arrived in Saarbrücken around 1901 and left at around 1905 to Strasburg. I know that because Alfred and Sara had another child who was born in Strasburg in 1905. After that, they moved to Karlsruhe and lived in Bretten for a while.
Alfred and Sara emigrated to the USA in 1939 just before the war. Their children were:
My grandfather, Karl Tiefenbrunner, left Germany for Palestine in 1936
Ester got married and had 2 daughters. Her husband died in Dachau, her oldest daughter died in Munich during the war and Ester and her younger daughter we[re] deported and assumed died in 1942.
Leo was born in 1905 and emigrated to the USA in 1927.
Hermann was born in 1911 in Karlsruhe. In 1936 he went to Spain and fought against the Franco regime. Then he spent the war in hiding in France and emigrated to the USA in 1948.
Willi was born in 1912 in Karlsruhe. He emigrated to the USA in 1938.
